About the Team Behind ShareCode

ShareCode is built and maintained by Octopus Technologies, a software company founded in India with a mission to make collaborative coding accessible to every developer in the world. Our founder, Kishan, started the project to solve a simple problem: developers needed a fast, free way to share and edit code together in real time without installing software or creating accounts.

Today, ShareCode is used by individual developers, engineering teams, bootcamp instructors, and technical recruiters across more than 30 countries. The platform handles thousands of collaborative coding sessions every month, powered by Conflict-Free Replicated Data Types (CRDTs) through the Yjs library, Firebase for authentication and persistence, and a lightweight WebSocket signaling server for real-time communication.

We believe that great tools should be free. ShareCode is supported by advertising revenue through Google AdSense, which allows us to offer the full platform — including unlimited code spaces, real-time collaboration, and multi-language support — at no cost to users.
